Liverpool dropped to the bottom half after they suffered their eighth defeat in 11 games, after Nottingham Forest beat them 3-0 at Anfield.
Murillo, Nicolò Savona and Morgan Gibbs-White scored the goals for Forest, who won at Anfield for the second successive season.
Liverpool were unhappy that Murillo’s opening goal was allowed to stand after Virgil Van Dijk’s similar goal against Manchester City two weeks ago was disallowed.
Alexander Isak started ahead of Hugo Ekitike, and Dominik Szoboszlai started at right-back. Forest were unchanged from their win against Leeds.
Liverpool started well, and in the opening 10 minutes, Alexis Mac Allister saw his close-range effort beat the keeper but was blocked by Elliot Anderson.
An Anderson corner fell kindly to Murillo, who struck the ball into the bottom-left corner to make it 1-0 in the 33rd minute.
Alisson Becker claimed that Dan Ndoye was in his line of vision whilst in an offside position, but no action was taken by VAR.
Five minutes later, Forest found themselves 2-0 up, but the goal was disallowed after Konate’s failed clearance struck the arm of Igor Jesus.
Neco Williams found himself in a dangerous position in Liverpool’s box and picked out Savona, who scored from close range after 39 seconds of the second half.
It got worse for Liverpool as Omari Hutchinson comfortably took on Andrew Robertson, but Alisson saved his shot.
The rebound fell fortunately to Gibbs-White, who found the bottom corner to make it 3-0 to Forest in the 78th minute.
You could hear the frustration from the home support, and many decided to leave after the third goal.
The win lifted Forest to 15th, whereas Liverpool dropped to 11th with a goal difference of minus two.
